Jō Baskerville

Jo Baskerville is a mixed media artist based in Atlanta, GA, whose work explores identity, culture, and transformation through the lens of Hip Hop. Rooted in ink wash and other dynamic techniques on canvas and paper, Baskerville’s practice is deeply inspired by the unseen lives and layered personas of those who dwell within the underground rhythms of city life—both literally and metaphorically.

Influenced by over 40 years of Hip Hop culture, his work imagines a community that exists deep within subway systems and train yards—a place where individuals from all walks of life emerge by night, masked and numbered, stepping into their alter egos. These characters represent a generation of creatives who, through resilience and reinvention, are destined to lead the future.

Blending street aesthetics with fine art sensibilities, Baskerville’s pieces are layered, expressive, and unapologetically raw. His art challenges viewers to reimagine what leadership and power look like when creativity knows no bounds.
