Ella West Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition featuring the work of Maya Freelon and Sachi Rome. Through their respective practices rooted in abstraction, Freelon and Rome explore the terrain of the margins, interrogating how identity and representation can be expressed outside of the boundaries and expectations of dominant culture. Their work evokes a beautifully powerful sense of independence and freedom that stems from a rooted respect for the past and an urgent determination to define the future.
